The wish that made it, as typed into Wishbar:
Add a widget that shows CNN fear and greed index along with previous close, 1 week ago, 1 month ago and 1 year ago scores
“A widget like this can be made for you from one sentence, to your taste. Nobody else will have it.”
No card needed. You bring the AI: a free ChatGPT account is enough.
“Wishbar turned a one-sentence request into a working Mac widget in minutes … I've stopped hunting for menu-bar apps; I just wish for them now.”
What it does
- Shows the current score as a whole number and its rating in a small badge, from Extreme Fear to Extreme Greed, with a dot that says live or stale.
- Shows the previous close, a week ago, a month ago and a year ago side by side.
- Refreshes every five minutes while the panel is open; if the feed fails, the last good reading stays, marked stale.
Where the data comes from, and what it needs
CNN's Fear and Greed data feed, the numbers behind CNN's own Fear and Greed page. No account, no key. It runs on your Mac and talks to its source only. Once made, it runs without your AI: it uses no Claude or ChatGPT tokens.
When it is useful
- A one-number read on the market mood before you open the news.
- Context for a price move: fear, or greed?
